Surgery Update

Unfortunately, today we found out that Harrison's AFP level has gone up again.  On Friday they did an ultrasound of his kidneys and liver and no abnormalities were found; therefore we thought everything was fine.  However, since the AFP level went up he will need to have an MRI as soon as they can get him in.  The MRI will check for hepatoblastoma-a fast growing cancer found in the liver.

Tomorrow we will be going to the surgery consult at Dr. Marsh's office to see if Harrison is a candidate for tongue reduction surgery.  Because of the new concerns that have arisen, it is highly unlikely that Harrison would have the tongue reduction surgery this week.  We will stay in St. Louis after the appointment with Dr. Marsh so he can have an MRI.  We are waiting to hear when the MRI will be.  More updates as soon as we know something else.
