Post-op

Harrison's omphalocele was fixed today, and he's back in the NICU! That's a photo of him just out of surgery.  They were able to reduce the herniation, remove a Meckel's diverticulum they found, and shape a belly button using the skin around the hole.  The surgeons, Dr. Keller and some peds surgery fellow, showed us pictures of the surgery. Nice work, boys.

Little dude also had ultrasounds of his kidneys, heart, and abdomen that showed normal findings, including a patent ductus arteriosus and a patent foramen ovale, both in the heart.  These will totally close on their own in the next few days, so it's no big deal.

The genetic tests were ordered today...these may take a few days or weeks.  Everything else, though, seems to be going really well and suggesting only good news.  In all honesty, though, we're just happy that we aren't still wondering about the gender.  Ambiguity in that department can be a little rough.

Sorry for the long posts.  I'm looking forward to getting back to one liners and odd pictures.

I am so happy for you both and so glad that little Harrison's surgery is over. We are praying that everything continues to go well and we can't wait to see you all!
