The pediatric surgery team signed off on Harrison's care yesterday, and the NICU physicians have decided that tonight will be his last night without Dad a brief whimper away. Tomorrow morning, he'll strut proudly out the door into the waiting getaway Volvo and never look back. He is only mildly jaundiced, though this is most likely breast milk related and is expected to completely resolve in a few days. It's totally normal for this to happen, and Harrison is getting it just a tad bit later than other newborns because he didn't start slurping the goods out of the bottle until Thursday. His other labs are totally normal, and he no longer has any fluid backup into his kidneys like he did at birth (also completely normal).
He's breastfeeding these days too and taking quite well to it, but he's a little confused about the whole thing still. Even in Scott's arms, he turns his head and aims for the milk...SURPRISE!!! buddy, these don't work like Abbey's! So he ends up running into my shirt. Funny stuff.
